A Journey into the Past – and an Important Message for the Future

Written on 18 September 2025

Today, the students of Grades 7 and 8 experienced a very special morning: Dr. Dr. Martin Keweloh and his brother Thomas Keweloh, who both attended the former Ramseyer Memorial School – one of the predecessor schools of today’s GISA – from 1974 to 1980, returned to visit their old school grounds.

Bringing along old photos and entertaining anecdotes, they took the students on a journey back in time. They shared stories of school life in the 1970s, describing what learning, daily routines, and community life were like back then. It was fascinating for the students to discover just how much the school and its atmosphere have changed over the decades.

The brothers also talked about their impressive career paths:

  • Dr. Dr. Martin Keweloh is now a renowned Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Germany and represents the German Association for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the European level.
  • Thomas Keweloh serves as the Chief Physician of Internal Medicine in Soest, leading a large team of doctors.

Their stories highlighted how important a strong educational foundation is and how their own time in Ghana shaped their future lives and careers.

To conclude the visit, Dr. Dr. Martin Keweloh held a powerful health prevention session on smoking. Using striking images and clear facts, he educated the students about the dangers of tobacco use and encouraged them to make responsible choices for their health and future.

A heartfelt thank-you to Martin and Thomas Keweloh for this remarkable visit, which not only offered a fascinating glimpse into the history of our school but also inspired our students with meaningful impulses for their own journeys ahead!
