A strong start to the week with shared moments and new impulses

As every Monday morning, the entire school community of the German International School Accra came together for the weekly assembly – a moment to connect, reflect, and look ahead to the week to come.

A special highlight was the look back at the past weekend: the visit of Gerald Asamoah and Torsten Fröhling to our Academy. The training sessions, personal encounters, and shared experiences left a lasting impression on many of our students and continue to inspire both their athletic and personal development.

Looking ahead, students and staff were reminded of this week’s parent-teacher conferences (learning development meetings). At the same time, Benjamin “Benji” Akrong introduced an upcoming anti-bullying project led by the German Intensive Class, which will further strengthen our culture of respect and inclusion.

A colorful outlook for the coming weekend was shared by Denise Schoechert: on Saturday, 25 April 2026, we will celebrate King’s Day on campus from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Following Dutch tradition, everyone is invited to come dressed in orange. A vibrant program and a flea market promise a lively and joyful afternoon for the whole community.

Principal Rainer Kropp-Kurta also reported from the recent staff meeting and introduced further developments in the school’s social curriculum. The existing card system has proven to be a valuable tool in everyday school life and will now be refined: the orange card, focusing on work habits, will be expanded to include punctuality. In addition, a new green card will be introduced to recognize positive behavior and individual progress more explicitly.

A particularly joyful moment of the assembly was the recognition of the winners of the internal photo competition. Arcani, Cleantha, and Frieda impressed the jury with their contributions and proudly received their awards – congratulations!

With many positive impressions, clear goals, and a strong sense of community, our students and staff set off into a new week full of energy and anticipation.
