Faces of Football: Playing, Learning and Growing Together

On 29 September 2026, GISA was all about football, teamwork and financial education. During the third edition of “Faces of Football”, girls from the German International School Accra, Chance for Children and the Universal Wonderful Street Academy came together for a special day of learning and activity. The event was supported by the Petra Landers Football School and the German Sparkassenstiftung.

On the football pitch, the focus was on teamwork, fair play and, of course, plenty of movement. But “Faces of Football” deliberately combines sport with another important topic: learning how to handle money responsibly. In interactive sessions, the participants explored why saving is important, how to set financial goals and how to make thoughtful decisions in everyday life.

Our student Cleantha Kuusaana summed up the experience:

“It was very informative and interesting, and we learned a lot about saving money. And of course, we played football too. I hope we can do it again next year.”

This combination is what makes “Faces of Football” such a special project: girls from different backgrounds meet as equals, learn with and from one another, and experience how sport can be much more than just a game.

We would like to thank all partners, coaches and supporters who made this day possible, and we are already looking forward to another edition next year.
