GISA Cup – Kids Edition Concludes 60th Anniversary Celebrations in Style

Written on 03 March 2026

With the GISA Cup – Kids Edition on 2 March 2026, the three-part celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the German International School Accra came to a vibrant and memorable close. Following the Ghana Day and the main GISA Cup tournament, the youth edition provided a fitting finale to a jubilee that highlighted the school’s unique identity: its strong connection to Ghana, its Swiss historical roots, its close ties to Germany, and its lived international spirit.

From 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., the campus was transformed into a stage for youthful energy, sporting ambition, and joyful competition. Six schools participated with both boys’ and girls’ teams: the German International School Accra, De Youngsters International School, Panama Star School, Chance for Children, Universal Wonderful Street Academy, and The Duker Academy.

Spectators witnessed fair and exciting matches defined by determination, teamwork, and mutual respect. While the competitive spirit was unmistakable, the true focus remained on enjoyment, shared experience, and the values that sport can so naturally convey.

In the boys’ competition, Universal Wonderful Street Academy secured first place, followed by GISA in second and Panama Star School in third. In the girls’ tournament, Panama Star School claimed the top spot, ahead of Chance for Children and GISA.

Individual awards recognized outstanding performances. The Best Player titles in both the boys’ and girls’ categories went to players from Panama Star School. The Best Goalie awards were presented to a player from Chance for Children in the boys’ competition and to GISA in the girls’ competition. The Fair Play Awards were granted to The Duker Academy (boys) and Chance for Children (girls).

With the Kids Edition, not only did a tournament conclude, but also a remarkable trilogy of anniversary events. Together, they demonstrated what the German International School Accra has stood for over six decades: meaningful encounters, intercultural exchange, and the conscious effort to build bridges between nations, cultures, and perspectives.

The tournament showed that such bridges are built early — on the pitch, in shared celebration, and in respectful competition. Anticipation for the next GISA Cup is already growing.
