Have a Say. Help Shape Our School. Take Responsibility.

Our new student representatives have started their work with plenty of ideas: Rudatu Dawda Jaward and Matt Alfa-Traoré from Grade 9 want to play an active role in shaping school life at the German International School Accra and ensure that student perspectives are heard even more strongly.

Their ideas range from a student-led sustainability project to talent shows, poetry slams and art exhibitions, as well as a “Student Ideas Board” where students can share suggestions and ideas for improving school life.

The German language also plays an important role. A German Conversation Club could create additional opportunities for students to use German outside the classroom in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

For older students, Rudatu and Matt are also proposing projects focusing on careers, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. These could include developing business ideas, meeting entrepreneurs and professionals, or even organising a student entrepreneurship fair.

More activities with other schools, as well as sporting and creative competitions, are also on their wish list – including the occasional “Students vs. Teachers” challenge.

Their goal is clear: students at GISA should have even more opportunities to contribute their own ideas, take responsibility and actively shape their school community.

We look forward to working with Rudatu and Matt and to seeing some of their ideas gradually turn into real projects.
