Kings' Day at GISA

Today, we celebrated Kings' Day at the German International School Accra (GISA)!
Our school was decorated in vibrant orange, and even the school gate proudly displayed the Dutch colours red, white, and blue. The children enjoyed a traditional Dutch breakfast, had lots of fun with various games, and were later treated to a sweet surprise – delicious poffertjes!
At the small flea market, students had the chance to buy lovely second-hand toys.
It was a wonderful day full of joy, community spirit, and new experiences!
A big thank you to Edith and Inez from the Dutch School for the great collaboration!
📚 What is Kings' Day?
"Koningsdag" is celebrated every year on 27 April and is one of the most important national holidays in the Netherlands. It honours the birthday of King Willem-Alexander. Traditionally, people dress in orange – the national colour – and enjoy street parties, flea markets, music, and games across the country.
