Meeting in Düsseldorf: New Impulses for the Gerald Asamoah Football Academy
During his visit to Germany, Head of School Rainer Kropp-Kurta met in Düsseldorf with former German international footballer Gerald Asamoah and Jens Conrad for an exchange about the further development of the Gerald Asamoah Football Academy at the Deutsche Internationale Schule Accra.
The Academy combines sport, education, and intercultural exchange. Its goal is to offer children and young people in Accra high-quality football training that is both professional and joyful. Training follows the youth development philosophy of the Deutscher Fußball-Bund, emphasizing many ball touches, high intensity, and above all a genuine love for the game.
Football here is seen as much more than just a sport – it can open doors and create opportunities. For this reason, the Academy focuses not only on technique, tactics, and fitness, but also on values such as teamwork, courage, respect, and personal growth within a multicultural environment.
The Academy is also designed as an open place of encounter. Participation is not limited to students of the Deutsche Internationale Schule Accra; young football talents from across the city are welcome to join the training groups, creating a diverse and vibrant football community.
The meeting in Düsseldorf provided an opportunity to reflect on the experiences of the past months and to discuss possible next steps for the Academy’s future. Both sides expressed confidence that the project will continue to develop positively and may gain new momentum in the coming period.
Under the motto “Show your talent, change your future,” the Gerald Asamoah Football Academy aims to remain a place where children laugh, learn, and sweat together—growing not only as football players, but also as young people ready to shape their future. ⚽🌍
