Music, Emotions and Football – A Memorable End to the School Year at GISA
The German International School Accra celebrated the end of the 2025/26 school year with a vibrant and heartfelt event, bringing together students, families, staff and guests. From impressive performances and emotional farewells to an enjoyable football evening, the celebration once again reflected what makes our school community so special: togetherness, diversity and a true sense of belonging.
The afternoon began with our school talent competition, “GISA Got Talent”. Students from Grades 1 to 8 delighted the audience with dance, music and creative performances, showcasing remarkable confidence and talent. After a difficult decision for the jury, the K-Pop Stars were announced as the winners and had the honour of opening the official End of School Year Celebration with their outstanding performance.
A central part of the celebration was dedicated to saying farewell. We wished all the best to our kindergarten children as well as to students whose time at GISA has come to an end. Many of them will return to their home countries or begin a new chapter with their families elsewhere in the world. We also expressed our sincere appreciation to several valued colleagues who are leaving our school. It was an emotional afternoon, with heartfelt words, warm embraces and, at times, a few tears, reflecting the close bonds that define our school community.
One particularly moving moment was the farewell to our Security Officer, Albert Kpenbaare, who retired after an impressive 37 years of dedicated service to GISA. A touching poem, presented by colleagues, and heartfelt applause from the entire school community honoured his unwavering commitment, reliability and kindness. For generations of students, parents and staff, Albert has been a familiar and welcoming presence at the school gate, and his contribution to GISA will not be forgotten.
Music, dance performances and personal reflections provided the perfect opportunity to look back on the many highlights of the past school year and to thank everyone who contributes to making life at GISA so vibrant and inspiring.
The celebration continued with a delicious buffet, generously prepared by the Parents' Committee together with many parent volunteers, creating a relaxed atmosphere for conversations and shared memories. The day concluded with a joyful public viewing of the FIFA World Cup match between Ecuador and Germany, where many families enjoyed spending the evening together.
Our sincere thanks go to all students, parents, staff, the Parents' Committee and everyone who contributed to making this wonderful celebration possible.
We wish our entire school community a relaxing and enjoyable summer break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting school year!
