New German Seconded Teacher visits GISA at the didacta in Cologne

A special moment for the German International School Accra: At the didacta education fair in Cologne, Head of School Rainer Kropp-Kurta had the pleasure of personally welcoming Haitham Albeiruty, who will join the German International School Accra as a German seconded teacher (ADLK) starting in the 2026/27 school year. He will move to Accra together with his family.

The meeting took place at the joint stand of the German Schools Abroad, where numerous schools from around the world present their work. In this international setting, the strength of the global network of German schools became particularly visible – and so did the growing role of the German International School Accra within this network.

With the placement of Haitham Albeiruty, the school reaches an important milestone in its development. For the first time in its history, an additional German seconded teacher will join the German International School Accra alongside the head of school. The position is arranged through the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA) and represents an important step in strengthening the German educational program at the school.

ADLK stands for Auslandsdienstlehrkraft – teachers from Germany who are placed at German Schools Abroad through the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA). Their role is to support the quality and development of German education in an international context.

Haitham Albeiruty brings a strong background in science education. He teaches Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science and also holds additional qualifications in Mathematics and German as a Second Language. Currently he serves as acting deputy head at the Twistringen School Centre in Germany and will officially assume the role of vice principal in February 2026. In this position he has gained extensive experience in school development, quality management, and organisational responsibilities such as timetable and substitution planning.

Alongside his leadership experience, he brings particular expertise in digital education and STEM subjects. His international biography and multilingualism – German, English and Arabic – also reflect the intercultural openness that characterises work at German Schools Abroad.

For the German International School Accra, this reinforcement comes at exactly the right time. The school continues to grow, is expanding its secondary programme, and is preparing for future German school-leaving qualifications. Haitham Albeiruty’s experience will play an important role in this development.

“Having an additional German seconded teacher placed at our school for the first time is a strong sign of the positive development of the German International School Accra,” says Head of School Rainer Kropp-Kurta. “We very much look forward to working together and to shaping the next steps of our school’s development.”

The entire community of the German International School Accra warmly welcomes Haitham Albeiruty and looks forward to the start of the 2026/27 school year together.
