Welcome Our New Interns at the German International School Accra

Written on 27 February 2026

We are delighted to welcome three dedicated interns to our school community. With curiosity, intercultural openness, and strong motivation, they are already bringing valuable impulses to everyday school life.

Helena Gleiß has been working as an intern at the German International School Accra since early February. Her curiosity about different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life was significantly shaped during her one-year voluntary service through weltwärts in Tanzania. Since then, her love for Afrobeats and African fabrics has also accompanied her. Through a fortunate series of events, she has now joined our school community and is very much looking forward to getting to know the German International School Accra and contributing her part.

Frieda Osei is studying Primary Education at the University of Duisburg-Essen and is supporting the school as part of her internship. Having attended an international school in Ghana herself for several years, intercultural experiences strongly shape her perspective on teaching and learning. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music—especially songs by Sam Garrett—and loves good food, particularly nkwatenkwan with fufu. She feels very welcome at the German International School Accra and is looking forward to the months ahead.

Nele Thierfelder has been supporting lessons across all grade levels since February. She is studying Sports and Business-Work-Technology Education for secondary level at the University of Potsdam. A four-week trip to Namibia sparked her passion for travel and motivated her to complete her practical semester at the German International School Accra. In her free time, she mainly enjoys sports and travelling.

We warmly welcome Helena, Frieda, and Nele to the German International School Accra and wish them an inspiring and enriching time with us. 🌍✨
