Professional Development as a Key to Quality: Bernard Boateng in Cairo

The continuous professional development of our staff is a central pillar of school improvement at the German International School Accra. In this context, our colleague Bernard Boateng participated in a multi-day in-person training as part of the FOLK programme in Cairo.

The modules focused on the targeted development of professional competencies – from reflecting on one’s own teaching practice to deepening methodological and didactic approaches, as well as strengthening effective learning design in the classroom. The intensive exchange with colleagues from different countries provided valuable new perspectives and fostered a shared understanding of quality in teaching.

Such training formats make an important contribution to systematic staff development: they strengthen individual competencies, encourage a mindset of continuous improvement, and have a direct impact on the quality of teaching and school life. As such, they represent a key element on the path towards a learning organization.

Bernard Boateng himself shared a very positive reflection:
“Much has been learned – many thanks for this great opportunity! I will actively implement everything I have learned to best support and further develop our school.”

Participation in this training was made possible through the support of the Central Agency for Schools Abroad and highlights the importance of strong and reliable partners in school quality development. At the same time, Bernard Boateng’s commitment reflects a strong willingness to take responsibility for his own professional growth and to actively transfer new impulses into everyday school practice.

The German International School Accra understands professional development as an integral part of a professional mindset. The impulses gained in Egypt will now be sustainably integrated into teaching and school development – in line with our guiding principle of building bridges and growing together.
