Supporting Health Together

Written on 08 January 2026

The Universal Wonderful Street Academy (UWSA), a cooperation partner of the German International School Accra, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting street children and families living in particularly challenging circumstances. Its work focuses, among other places, on Jamestown (Accra) and Old Ningo, where UWSA provides children with protection, care, educational support and access to basic healthcare.

In spring 2026, UWSA plans to organise free medical check-ups for children and adults from these communities. Doctors from Germany will be on site to offer basic examinations and treatments in a respectful, low-threshold and supportive setting.

To help prepare for these medical checks, medical supply donations will be collected starting Monday, 12 January. Every contribution helps to meaningfully support healthcare provision and to offer children and adults a little more security and care.

Anyone who is able and would like to contribute is warmly invited to do so. Even small donations can make a difference. Donations can be dropped off conveniently at the GISA entrance.

Thank you for your support, for spreading the word, and for helping us take shared responsibility beyond our own school community.
