ZfA Photo Competition: Creativity, Perspectives, and Our School in Focus

The German International School Accra is taking part this year in the international photo competition organised by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA) under the theme “Images for the corridors of the ZfA.” The aim of the competition is to capture and showcase the diverse learning and everyday life at German schools abroad through powerful and authentic photography.

To actively involve as many students as possible and to highlight their creative perspectives, the competition at GISA was organised as an internal school contest in three exciting rounds. Under the dedicated coordination of teacher Steffi Weber, a set of inspiring themes was developed, each reflecting different aspects of school life:

1st topic: Interact with one of our school murals
2nd topic: Movement that brings the school to life
3rd topic: Our school grows

In each round, students were invited to use the school iPads to create their own visual ideas and capture their personal view of GISA. Whether through artistic interaction with colourful murals, dynamic moments of movement across campus, or the connection between nature and learning, the resulting photographs vividly illustrate the energy and diversity of our school.

The competition brings together several important goals: encouraging creativity, fostering a conscious awareness of the learning environment, and strengthening students’ connection to their school. At the same time, it offers them the opportunity to be part of an international initiative and to share their work beyond the school community.

A selection of the best entries will be submitted to the ZfA, where a jury will choose the winning images. These will then be exhibited and used for public communication.

Even now, it is clear that the photo competition is much more than a contest – it is a shared project that inspires creativity, broadens perspectives, and once again highlights what defines GISA: learning that connects – and a school community that grows together.
