Strong Impulse for the Future: Coaching Team of the Gerald Asamoah Football Academy in Focus

During the recent visit of Gerald Asamoah, the spotlight was deliberately placed on the coaching staff of the Gerald Asamoah Football Academy. The founder and namesake of the academy took time for an in-depth exchange with the five dedicated coaches who have been passionately building and shaping the program since the beginning of the year.

He was joined by Torsten Fröhling, whose extensive experience in professional football and youth development added significant value to the discussions. As a former player for Hamburger SV and FC St. Pauli, and later head coach at clubs such as 1860 Munich (2. Bundesliga), SV Wehen Wiesbaden (3rd division), and most recently in the Regionalliga, Fröhling contributed important insights—particularly regarding the transition from youth to high-performance football.

At the heart of the visit was a professional and forward-looking dialogue on training quality, sustainable development, and effective quality management. It became clear that the academy’s work is already guided by strong principles and a clear educational vision—providing an excellent foundation for future growth.

A key component of the exchange was the presentation of the training philosophy, significantly shaped by Matthias Kreutzer. Currently serving as assistant coach at 1. FC Nürnberg and bringing over 20 years of experience in professional football—including roles at FC Schalke 04 and Hamburger SV—Kreutzer represents a modern, child-centered, and performance-oriented approach to player development.

This philosophy is built on three core principles: joy, decision-making, and repetition. Children are encouraged not only to play football but to truly understand the game—developing the ability to read situations, make independent decisions, and build confidence through continuous success. Training sessions are designed to be game-oriented, fostering creativity, awareness, and personal responsibility.

From a technical perspective, the academy focuses on essential skills such as dribbling, finishing, and 1-on-1 situations, all embedded in dynamic and engaging training formats.
