Colours and Water – Learning Through Exploration in the Nursery
Over the past few weeks, everything in the Nursery has revolved around the fascinating world of colours and water. With great curiosity and enthusiasm, the children embarked on a journey of discovery, gaining valuable experiences through hands-on experiments, observation, and creative activities.
One particularly exciting experiment involved mixing coloured water with oil. The children observed that the two liquids behave differently and do not merge. Through independent exploration, their curiosity, exploration skills, and ability to observe were encouraged and strengthened in a playful way.
Painting with colourful ice cubes was another popular activity. The children experienced the coldness of the ice, watched it melt, and discovered how colours blend together to create new shades. This sensory-rich activity not only stimulated multiple senses but also supported the development of fine motor skills and creative expression.
Another highlight was the rainbow experiment. A coloured paper towel was placed in water, allowing the colours to gradually spread and connect. The children watched this process with great interest and gained fascinating insights into how colours move and mix.
At the heart of all these activities was learning through exploration. The children were encouraged to gain first-hand experiences, recognize connections, and actively investigate the world around them. In this playful way, they developed important scientific understanding while nurturing their creativity and sense of wonder.
