Creating with Our Hands – Fun with Clay during Project Time
During Project Time in Primary School, the children are currently shaping, modelling and creating. In the project “Fun with Clay”, they are discovering clay as a material and gradually gaining their first experience in working with it.
At the beginning, they explored different ways of shaping clay by hand. Their first small project was to create their own bowl using the thumb technique. In doing so, the children experienced how patience, care and imagination can transform a simple piece of clay into an individual object.
At the moment, the students are working on their own clay Tic-Tac-Toe games. First, they developed sketches for their game boards and thought about how they wanted their playing pieces to look. This week, the boards were completed and the children began modelling their pieces.
In this way, the project combines creativity with planning, fine motor skills and perseverance – while also showing how rewarding it can be to turn an idea into something real with your own hands.
