Learning German with Joy: Our Support Programme in Grades 1 and 2

Learning German at our school also means moving, communicating, trying things out and having fun together. This is exactly what our Grade 1 and 2 students experienced during a lively and varied German lesson as part of our support programme.

Focusing on the topics “Introducing yourself, countries of origin and numbers”, the children quickly started interacting with one another through the method of “learning through movement”. During the game “Catch, Ask, Answer”, they were not only physically active but also used German naturally and confidently: they asked each other questions, shared information about themselves and practised understanding and passing on information about others.

Vocabulary development was another important focus. Using their DaZ 2 book, the children worked on their personal “vocabulary bank”, revisited familiar words and expressions, and gradually expanded their language skills.

The combination of movement, speaking practice and collaborative learning created a motivating atmosphere in which all children were actively involved and able to further develop their German.

In this way, German in our support programme is not only learned, but truly experienced – through movement, interaction and the joy of speaking.
