Playing with Words, Discovering Language

This week, the German as a Foreign Language students in Grades 5 and 6 focused on exploring the German language creatively. What can we do with words? Can we invent new ones? How can the meaning of words change when we deliberately “charge” them with new associations? These and many other questions were explored during a poetry workshop.

The students discovered different tools and techniques for using language creatively and developing their own texts – in preparation for a possible contribution to the Goethe-Institut Accra Cultural Festival in November.

In an additional grammar session, they consolidated structures they had already learned and applied them in new contexts.
