Poetry, Poetry Slam and a Visit to Kindergarten

Exciting events are already on the horizon: this week, the German as a Foreign Language students in Grades 7 and 8 embarked on a journey into the world of modern poetry. During a workshop in their German lessons, they explored different ways of experimenting creatively with language and learned how to shape their own texts in an artistic and poetic way.

The aim is to take part in the Goethe-Institut Accra Cultural Festival in November 2026 with their own poetry slam contribution.

At the end of the week, the older students paid a visit to the Kindergarten. There, they read stories to the little Sharks and Elephants and then spent some time playing together. The older students were particularly surprised by how much German the young GISA children already speak. What began as a reading session quickly turned into a lively exchange between younger and older learners of German.
